Some of Kathleen Forrest’s best ideas come to her while
she is helping others resolve conflicts, or watching lives being laid out
on an astrologer’s chart. Kathe, as she prefers to be called,
has the unique ability to combine two professions - mediator and astrologer.
She has a busy and very interesting double enterprise.
Raised in Beaumont, Texas, she went to college at South West
Texas State and the University of Texas in Houston, where she got her degree
in business, along with many hours in psychology. “I’m always
studying wherever I am,” said the soft-spoken Kathe.
For the last seven years, she has been a mediator for the City
of Longmont, doing mediation for renter/landlord disputes; neighbor/neighbor
issues such as noise levels and neighborhood debris; and parent/child conflicts.
Also, “A friend and I drew up guidelines about divorce issues for the
(City of) Longmont. I’m on my own now, and am always open to
listening,” she said.
Kathe has dealt with many kinds of people, and listening
to them ties into her astrology. “There is so much to astrology,
I’m always learning.” She focuses on psychological points of
the individual, with the Western chart and the Eastern chart (less used by
most astrologers), she can make a well rounded chart for the individual.
Kathe will focus on such questions as, ‘What period in
my life am I in now, or how many children will I have?’ She really
enjoys working with children. “You can tell so much about who
they are, they’re so pure. This is the chart you’re born
with; hopefully you’ll evolve, change, learn. Nothing is set
in stone,” she smiles.
More interesting points are what relationships are like in
the family, or it might say there will be health problems, but it might not
say what, or that it can’t be overcome. “I’m learning
about relationships in past lives, and people love it!” she said.
“They come away with a better understanding of themselves.”
An interesting point in this year’s chart is Mercury
in retrograde. “The planet Mercury appears to be going backwards in
the heavens. As it does so, it can really confuse people in communication,
computers, elections. Then it goes forward. This happened on
election day of this year, (while we were) trying to elect our president!
Smaller mishaps happen, (when) the Denver Bronco quarterback was injured,
or getting the wrong mail. This happens every three to four months.”
Reading a chart is a “high” for Kathe. She
loves to find out about a person and tell them all about their life.
“I’m dealing with people who want to learn and evolve.
People may want to come back with questions or for yearly readings.”
Kathe is a single mom with a daughter Cesa, 21, at her alma
mater, South West Texas State and two sons Jeremiah 12, and Jeshua
10, who attend the Shepherd Valley Waldorf School in Niwot.
