On Nov. 27 at approximately 4 a.m. a fire of
unknown origin broke out in a house under construction on Legend Ridge Trail
in the new Legend Ridge development. The entire frame burned to the
ground and damage was reported to be $500,000.
On Dec. 7, the Earth Liberation Front claimed
responsibility for setting the fire. Sergeant Dan Barber of the Boulder
County Sheriff’s office is heading the investigation.
According to Barber, “The matter is under
investigation. The results from the lab will take several weeks.”
Deputy Sheriff Amy Frank, operating out of the Niwot substation, was on the
scene at the Legend Ridge fire and also investigated a small fire in a shed
on Franklin Street the next night. The shed fire was caused by careless smokers
and resulted in only minimal damage. |
