By Mary Headley The plywood scaffolding around
the entrance to the Gunbarrel King Soopers means that the store is finally
being modernized and brought up to corporate standards.
The renovations are strictly to bring the Gunbarrel location up to par with other King Soopers locations. “It was time to update that store,” said Dave Savage, vice presaident of operations for King Soopers. Savage confirmed that the renovations had been under discussion for about two years, but that some unnamed issues had to be worked out first. Savage declined to say how much the renovations will cost. According to the Boulder County Assessor, the property owner is Ira Tanner, Jr., Trustee. The actual assessed value (pre-improvements) is $3,397,800. The store was originally built in 1969. The City of Boulder building permits revealed that the estimated renovation cost is $2,555,000. The remodeling is scheduled to be completed by April 25. “We’re trying to keep the inconveniences to our shoppers to a minimum during the renovations,” said Savage, “and hope the public will bear with us through this phase.” For more information, see “A Face-Lift For Gunbarrel Shopping Center” on page 5.
Remodeling and updating have started at Gunbarrel King Soopers. The renovations should be complete by the end of April 2002. |
