MVFPD Volunteer Ryan Anderson
For the last six months Ryan
Anderson has been the front line of fire defense in Niwot. Ryan lives
in the Niwot Station and in exchange he provides a minimum of 30 hours
a week of fire duty. His obligation includes two 12-hour shifts every
other Saturday. “This not an unusual arrangement, other departments do
it.” Chief Devlin explained.
Anderson is a Certified Fire Fighter as well as a Certified Emergency Medical Technician. A Colorado native and a graduate of Niwot High School, he said that he is “privileged to be a fire fighter in my own community.” Anderson is presently enrolled in Red Rocks Community College. His goal is to earn a degree in Fire Service Technology. He said he is “excited to have the new CAF in service. Boulder Rural used it on the Legend Ridge fire.” On Dec. 20, 2000 the Mountain
View Fire Protection District Fire Fighter Academy graduated 30 volunteer
fire fighters. Scott Hayes, Robert Johnson and Shannon Johnson will
be operating out of the Niwot Station.
