SVVSD Revises Director BoundariesBy
Cindy Komperda Every
four years the St. Vrain Valley School District Board of Education is required
to reapportion district boundaries.This
reapportionment is designed to equalize the population within each of the
seven director districts.The result
is that director district boundary lines are moved. According
to District data, significant population increases have occurred in all
districts except for Director District E, which reflects a decrease of
567 (see map on page 3). The greatest increase occurred in District A.Since
1996, District A’s population increased by 3,816 residences. District
B’s population, which includes Niwot and the surrounding vicinity, in-creased
by 619 for a total population of 13,023 in 1999. District
B’s boundary has gained residences that were originally in District E.This
area is outlined on the map.As of
1999, District B population is 13,197 compared to the district average
of 13,128.This reflects the growth
of 793 residences. Overall,
the total district population has increased from 73,862 in 1990, to 85,700
in 1996 and 91,893 in 1999.This
reflects a total increase of 18,031. District
boundaries will not change again until 2004.Since2000
is a census year, the school district is hopeful that the census numbers
will help refine district population numbers. If
