The Heart Of Lyons

By Anna Mahorski

The Heart of Lyons is made up of artistic works from local artists in Colorado. Joni Carr takes items on consignment and helps the artists by keeping prices down. "Actually, the more they make, the less I do, but it moves their art to the public," Joni said.

While business has been a bit slow, Joni stated, "This space was vacant for a long time, and my (outside) sign had to be limited to its small size. I’m making a sidewalk sign, so that will help."

Sixty percent of the items in the Heart of Lyons are on consignment. The rest of the goods are retail, featuring beautiful clothes, jewelry, soaps, walking sticks and hats. The shop features individual artists’ paintings, jewelry and mosaics. Joni’s own works of stained and fused glass, featuring bracelets and vases as well as candle holders, and some painted furniture, is included.

"I plan on teaching some classes, perhaps in the fall, from stained glass to painted furniture, and for kids from painted barrettes to birdhouses. There’s also a book I’m writing about vases with fused glass on glass (and) stained glass vases for stained glass artists," stated Joni.

Joni’s keen eye for the original and homey artwork makes the Heart of Lyons an awesome place with a small town atmosphere.
