Traveling north on Airport Road, you are liable to miss Zwecks’ produce
stand if you aren’t paying attention. Tucked snuggly behind mature
trees, Zwecks is on the left-hand side of the road between Rodgers Road
and 9th Street in Longmont.
Tom and Connie Zweck own the farm that has been in the family since the
late 1870’s when Tom’s great grandparents moved here from Europe.
Since then, the family has continued to farm the land producing wonderful
organic vegetables.
Each morning, Zweck and two employees freshly pick the vegetables, herbs
and flowers to be sold that day. Everything sold at the stand is grown
outside in the field on the property.
Whether it be fresh Walla Walla onions, papitas, tomatores, cucumbers,
racdor yellow beans, green beans, or honey, you can purchase the very freshest
organic products. Zwecks has always grown everything organically.
This has always been an important part of their farming.
The produce stand is housed in the Zweck’s grandmother’s garage that was
moved to the site many years ago. It provides the perfect ambiance
for selling home grown products. However, for those of you who are
tall, be sure to duck when you are paying for your produce and flowers.
If for some reason you can’t make it to their stand, Zwecks sells wholesale
to Alfalfa’s Market and Whole Foods in Boulder.
Zwecks is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Sunday from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Zwecks will be harvesting winter squash, melons,
raspberries, ornamental corn, gourds and pumpkins this fall. The
stand will close a few weeks after the first frost.
