MOUNTAIN VIEW FIREPROTECTION DISTRICT MINUTES

                  The regularmeeting of the Board of Directors of the Mountain View Fire Protection Districtwas held at the District’s Brownsville Station, 10911 Dobbin Run, Lafayette,Colorado on   February 20, 2001.

 

                  The meeting was attended bythe following Board members: Wade Carlson, Louis Rademacher, and MichaelHolubec, Jr.      Starr Aldrich wasexcused.

 

                  Also presentwere John Devlin, Donna Mullison, and Joe Rusk.

 

                  Chief’s Report.

 

                  Chief Devlinreminded all in attendance that the Feasibility Study will be reviewed in ajoint meeting between Tri-Area Ambulance District and Mountain View FireProtection District’s Boards of Directors on Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at7:00 p.m. at the Firestone Town Hall.  This is a worksession only, no formal action will be taken by eitherboard. Tri-Area’s board action will take place at their 3/14 meeting.  Mountain View’s board action will take placeat the 3/19 meeting.

 

                  Chief Devlinstated that the feasibility study between Bouler Rural Fire and Mountain ViewFire will begin in early march.   He hasattended one meeting to date with Chief Mygatt regarding the study.

 

January, 2001 FinancialStatements.

 

Chief Devlinreported that it was early in the year, one-time subscriptions, etc. due inJanuary have been paid, but we are still under budget.   In addition, we will prepay for someconferences in order to save the District money due to early booking.

 

Public Hearing - Quail.

 

                  Vice PresidentRademacher opened the public hearing on the proposed Quail exclusion.  There being no public comment on suchexclusion, the hearing was closed and the regular meeting reconvened.   It was unanimously approved.

                 

                  NCWCD Exclusion.

 

                  This matter wastabled until more information confirming the property has been annexed into theCity of Longmont has been received.  Staff will contact Dick Lyons to obtain information.

 

  Station Reports.

                 

B.C. Rusk andChief Devlin gave an update on the thermostats with lock boxes, set at 65degrees in all stations to help with the increased fuel costs.

 

 

                    StaffReports.

 

                  Chief Devlingave an update on the hiring processes.  There are 10 persons who will be interviewed for the 2 firefighter/EMTpositions, on March 5th .  Tenpersons will be interviewed for the four paramedic positions, on March 6 th.  We have received 68 applications for theDeputy Chief position.   Thirty packetswere sent to potential candidates requesting more information, questions to beanswered, etc.   These responses are dueto the District by February 28th.  Thereafter, Chief Devlin will select 8-10 persons to complete a two dayassessment center on March 22 and 23.

 

                  BOARD MEMBER ITEMS

 

                  Wade Carlsonasked whether it was appropriate to have Phil Beehler, a Lieutenant/Paramedicwith the District and Dacono resident, serve on a citizen advisory board.  It was the consensus that this wasappropriate so long as Phil was serving as a citizen, not a Fire Districtrepresentative.
