FOOTBALL

Mitch Webster (Silver Creek) will be a junior linebacker for Augustana University this fall. Webster saw action in four games last season.

Paul “Tiny” Koehler, former long-time football coach at Niwot High, has officially retired from coaching at Fort Lewis College. Koehler, who coached running backs at Fort Lewis for the past several seasons, returned to assist with spring camp after the 2017 season. He was back in Niwot last week for the NHS Class of 1988 reunion, and noted that he may continue to help out with the Fort Lewis football program, but is planning on a more limited role. Head Coach Joe Morris is a graduate of Centaurus High School.

Mo Bandi (Niwot) is a junior on the defensive line for the University of Colorado. Bandi has moved between offensive and defensive line during his career at CU. The pre-med major was born in India and has the distinction, according to his bio on the CU website, of having the longest given first name in CU Football history: Varasiddimounish, but he is best known as Mounish, or simply “Mo.”

Alex Oelsner (Niwot) is listed as a running back on the Northwestern University spring football roster. Oelsner is a sophomore who played tight end in high school.

VOLLEYBALL

Jennifer Townsend (Niwot) will be a senior for Augustana College this fall. Townsend saw action in 12 sets last season.

Sarah Falk (Niwot) will be a redshirt-freshman this fall for Sacramento State. Falk is listed as a middle blocker for the Hornets.

TRACK

Claire Gillett (Niwot) recorded personal bests in the 600M, 800M, and 1500M during her freshman year at Gonzaga University. Gillett’s highest finish was in the 800M at the Pelluer Invitational where she finished second. She had four other top 10 finishes throughout the season in the 1500M and the 800M. Gillett recorded her personal record of 4:57.58 in the 1500M at the Portland Twilight Meet May 12. She was on the Dean’s List of Honorees with a GPA between 3.50 and 3.84.

Alexis Carroll (Niwot) finished 11th in the Triple Jump for UCCS at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships April 29 with a jump of 35’10.75”. Carroll also finished 13th in the Long Jump with a leap of 17’4” and took 12th in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 15.61. Earlier in the year Carroll was named to the RMAC Second Team in the Indoor Track Triple Jump.
