Herbst heads to hockey camp

Reilly Herbst of Niwot recently participated in the USA Hockey Rocky Mountain District Player Development Camp in Salt Lake City May 4 to May 8, which included on-ice skill evaluation and games. The District Camp is part of USA Hockey’s player development process where they identify national team caliber players from across the country.

Each of the twelve districts across the United States that make up USA Hockey conduct the player development camps every spring and have a specific allotment of players by position they are tasked to identify. The Rocky Mountain District includes Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and Utah. Herbst, a sophomore at South Kent Academy, was recently notified that he was selected as the one goalie from the Rocky Mountain District to move on to the National Player Development Camp which will take place during early July in Buffalo, New York.
