All Local, All The Time

Wine away to raise money and spirits

You can complain about it, but you just can’t change the weather. So why not make the most of the chill in the air by joining fellow whiners at the fifth annual Let’s Wine About Winter event in Niwot, 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23.

Nearly 200 tickets have already been sold for the stroll from business-to-business occasion, but there’s always room for more merrymakers. Over 35 establishments, along 2nd Avenue and in Cottonwood Square Shopping Center, will be serving up samples of wines, beers, non-alcoholic drinks, and gourmet snacks, along with some good old-fashioned hospitality.

Enjoy Niwot’s outdoor art pieces, indoor art galleries, musicians, fun and funky stores, and find out what neighborhood businesses have to offer. Revel in the good company, with great food and drinks, make new friends and meet up with old ones as you wander the town and snub your nose at winter doldrums. Discover a new favorite wine (more than 30 varieties will be available) and new favorite businesses, all in one afternoon of sauntering along the streets of Niwot. Many businesses will be new to the Let’s Wine About Winter celebration.

The cost is $25 to join the Let’s Wine About Winter club and, in addition to partaking of drinks and food at each business, each patron receives a commemorative Let’s Wine About Winter mug and a $10 coupon redeemable at any participating merchant through March 16, 2019. Tickets purchased on the day of the event will cost $30.

All of the enjoyment of the event also has the added benefit of giving back to the community. Money raised through ticket sales supports two Niwot Cultural Arts Association (NCAA) community gathering places – Whistle Stop Park and the Niwot Children’s Park. Last year’s event raised over $5,400.

Co-organizers and originators of the NCAA sponsored event, Michelle Henzel, office manager of Osmosis Gallery, and Anne Postle, owner of the Osmosis Gallery, bring together the afternoon’s happenings.

“We encourage people to bring their friends and make a party of the event,” Henzel said. “It was nicely windy last year and it only added to the fun. Business owners and event participants were all smiles. We are so appreciative to the entire community for the energy they bring to this wonderful event.”

After the event, revelers are invited to visit Niwot’s restaurant, bar and entertainment scene and continue the festivities.

Tickets may be purchased in advance by going to Eventbrite.

The day of the event, participants begin their wining and walking experience at Niwot Real Estate, 7915 Niwot Rd, where they will pick up a wristband, a map of participating establishments, a commemorative mug, and a $10 coupon. There may be some additional tickets available for purchase at this location on the day of the event for $30.
