NYS has a redesigned website at www.niwotyouthsports.org.  Holly Barrett, who created the site, was recruited by Kirstin Heinritz and Mike Veeder of NYS to update and expand the website.  “I have been designing and developing websites on a part-time to less than part-time basis for about eight years while I raise my three daughters,” Barrett said.

She spent several years in the financial services industry as a financial analyst and product manager, and worked closely with a web designer for a new business.  “I discovered then that I enjoyed this line of work much more than number crunching.  I have designed sites for small businesses, non-profits, local bands, friends, and family.  I especially enjoy helping non-profits create an online presence and identity they otherwise might not be able to afford.”

The NYS site contains photos, a history of the program, registration information, directions to fields, and how to contact board members.  “Building this site was very interesting for me because I grew up playing playing softball and basketball in youth leagues in Georgia and continued playing through high school,” she said.  “My entire family was very much involved in the local youth sports leagues and my parents spent many hours volunteering.  I have wonderful memories of those years.”

Barrett has a third-grader and twins in Kindergarten, all at Niwot Elementary School.  Her husband, Chris Barrett, works at Qualcomm in Gunbarrel.
