On May 23, 2011, Dutch Maydew, son of Ken and Sally Maydew of Niwot, was awarded the Boy Scout’s highest honor: the Eagle Scout Badge.

Maydew began scouting in Nederland and continued when his family moved to Niwot in 2004, when he joined Cub Scout Pack 161 and later, Boy Scout Troop 161.

Maydew’s Eagle Scout project included designing and constructing a garden path for the Sandstone Ranch national historic home of Morse Coffin, a St. Vrain Valley pioneer.
