Boy Scouts Brendan Magill, Geoff Zolkos, Gary Followell and Barret Ingvaldson from Troop 565 in Longmont joined over 45,000 scouts at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. They and their and leader, Dan Woods, joined over 80 scouts from Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska touring Washington DC. The Scouts met Senator Mark Udall, attended opening ceremonies with Secretary of State Robert Gates, and heard Mike Rowe, Eagle Scout and host of “Dirty Jobs,” propose taking the “clean” out of the scout oath. Classic merit badges, along with rappelling, kayaking, scuba diving, and an Armed Forces Activity Center were offered, making it a lifetime opportunity for these scouts. |
