Niwot Historical Society Lecture Series Begins November 2011 Patty Limerick, professor of history at the University of Colorado, spoke to a crowd of over 90 at the Left Hand Grange in Niwot Sept. 28 as the first speaker in a four-part series sponsored by the Niwot Historical Society. Limerick’s topic was “Living with Legacy of Conquest: The Transformation of the West.” She described the lives and perspectives of women of the late 1800’s, including Elizabeth Custer. Most of her material was taken from the writings of the wives of army officers stationed in the west. Meri Gibb, a board member of the historical society, is in charge of organizing the series, which will resume Nov. 30 with a presentation entitled, “Niwot’s Railroad History.” |
