Saturday, Sept. 10 will mark the thirty-fifth celebration of Niwot Nostalgia Day. While this might make this year’s celebration a little extra-special, organizers from the Niwot Community Association say this year’s festival will be filled with many of the traditional events and activities that make this annual celebration of Niwot’s history such a favorite with residents and visitors alike.

They will be kicking things off early in the morning with a pancake breakfast in the parking lot of Niwot Market. After you’ve fortified yourself, take your place along the parade route, either as a participant or as a spectator.

Following the parade, Second Avenue will be lined with booths and vendors of all kinds. Live entertainers will perform throughout the day.

Be sure to visit the children’s area where the proceeds will be donated to the Mwebaza Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting cross-cultural exchange and supporting African schools.

The Left Hand Valley Courier’s Duck Race is now in its fifth year. Ducks are still only five bucks each, and this year the proceeds will go to the Niwot Cultural Arts Association to fund the Excel Electric Mural Project.

The first prize is a duck dinner for four prepared in the winner’s home by Niwot’s own Dale Lamb. Other prizes include gift certificates from Niwot Massage and Colterra.

In the evening, put your dancing shoes on and come out to hear the Nacho Men as they take the stage once again to bring Nostalgia Day to a close with a concert in the parking lot of Cottonwood Square.
